Meridian Berhad aspiration of MTC (Malaysia Tourism City) project is to increase the arrival of tourists and prolong the overnight stay. With MTC, target is to increase another 2 million tourist arrivals and another additional 1.5 Million overnight stay tourists in Melaka thereby creating a multiplier effect on tourist receipt up to an additional RM5bil per annum. To make MTC a success, there is a need to “create an economy” within the development itself tourism city’s sustainability. The weekend market, together with the first Hasbro theme park and a branded adventure park will form the first phase of MTC 622.13 acres development which is based on four pillars: mass tourism, medical tourism, edu-tourism and eco-tourism. The project is planned to be developed over three phases, with the first phase planned for completion within the next three years. Meridian Berhad will work closely with low-cost carrier AirAsia; the Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (Matta); to make sure they achieve the 2 million tourist footfall to MTC.

Dato Yap Ting Hau, a lawyer by profession and a successful entrepreneur in various industries such as events and advertising, real estate agency, outsource banking and property investment With over a decade of insights into the property sector from different perspective of the related industries, he is a prudent yet aggressive developer who understand the market needs and can handle bad market and how to tap into the opportunities.

Datin Chan Heng Si

A lawyer by profession with experience handling property related deals in drafting joint ventures, sales and purchase agreements as well as payment structures for land deals. She has been elected as a Committee member of REHDA youth and REHDA Planning Policies & Standard (PPS) Committee and Strata Development.
In 2007 she joined Messrs Abraham Ooi & Partners as a Legal Assistant and was subsequently invited to be a Partner of Messrs FL Foo & Co in December 2007. A graduate from University of London, United Kingdom, Datin Lea received her Certificate of Legal Practice (CLP) from the University of Malaysia in 2002 and was admitted to the Malaysian Bar on 2003.

Leong Yeng Kit

Mr. Leong read law at the University of Buckingham, graduating in 1995 and was called to the Malaysian Bar in 1998. He is the founder and managing partner of Leong Yeng Kit & Co.
He has extensive experience in banking, capital markets, corporate law, mergers and takeovers, commercial law, conveyancing, corporate restructuring, intellectual property, liquidation, receivership, litigation and fraud investigations.

Karlson Goh Kar Sheng

Mr. Karlson Goh is a chartered architect by profession and graduated with degrees in design studies and architecture from the University of Adelaide in 1999 and 2002 respectively. Previously running his business as a sole proprietor, he later joined a mid-sized firm and was made Partner. He was also a lecturer at Taylor’s University and is also an Associate Director in the Kuala Lumpur office of Singapore-based DP Architects Pte. Ltd.
He has extensive experience in design development, contract administration and project management for a wide range of projects from individual bungalows, residential townships, commercial offices, mixed developments to overall master planning. He is a corporate member of Lembaga Akitek Malaysia and PertubuhanArkitek Malaysia.

Dato' Tiong Kwing Hee
Non-Independent Non-Executive Director
Dato Tiong holds Master of Business Economics from Miami Universty, United States of America in 1983 and Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Business Administration from Hanover College, United States of America in 1982.
Dato Tiong first joined the Board of EcoFirst Consolidated Bhd as an Alternate Director on 18 September 2008 and subsequently appointed as Executive Director / Chief Executive Officer on 2 January 2009. He is currently the Group Chief Executive Officer of EcoFirst Consolidated Bhd. Dato' Tiong was appointed as an Executive Director of Mercury Industries Berhad on 7 August 2000. On 20 July 2017, he was re-designated as the Managing Director. He served as a member of the Remuneration Committee of Mercury Industries Berhad until 27 February 2018.

Datuk Rashidi Bin Hasbullah

Datuk Rashidi Bin Hasbullah has experienced for 23 years in the tourism industry in placing Malaysia as a major tourist destination in the world. He contributes ideas to the Malaysia Tourism Transformation Program (2010-2020), National Tourism Policy (2020-2050) and National Culture Policy (2020-2030). Before retired, he is holding post as Secretary General of the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture Malaysia.

Boh Cheau Leang

Mr. Boh Cheau Leang (“Mr. Boh”) has more than 43 years of experience in Finance. Following his graduation in 1976, he joined the Civil Service and was attached to the Ministry of Education for approximately 18 years as a Senior Teacher. In 1995, he joined Jaks Resources Bhd (formerly Wing Tiek Holdings Bhd) and its Group of Companies as the Assistant General Manager of Finance. In 1997, he was appointed Vice President Finance of Malaysian Technology Development Corporation Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of Khazanah Nasional Berhad involved in providing venture capital investment for IT start ups. In 2008, he was attached to Apex Healthcare Bhd, a pharmacy retail chain, as their Credit Controller. Since 2019, Mr Boh has been a Business Consultant at PBS Consulting PLT, an Audit and Advisory firm.
Mr. Boh does not have any family relationship with any Director and/or major shareholder of Meridian Berhad, or any conflict of interest with the Company.
